OSCE experts noted effective experience of Turkmenistan in combating threats and challenges of our time

On April 3, 2018, a two-day seminar of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, dedicated to the topic of the multilateral approach to combating the threats of extremism and radicalism in the modern world started its work in Ashgabat.

Representatives of various ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, public organizations, international experts on combating organized crime and terrorism, members of the Secretariat of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, as well as specialists from relevant structures from the United States, Netherlands, Finland, Norway, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan participate in the workshop.

As noted during the seminar, the fight against the threat of violent extremism and radicalism becomes most effective due to the establishment of an international system to counteract these global negative phenomena and to coordinate the efforts of various states on a long-term basis.

 Particular emphasis was placed on the unique experience of Turkmenistan in preventing the radicalization of the population, especially among the youth. It was noted that the neutral status and peacekeeping role of our state in the region and in the world, as well as the constructive policy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, aimed at the all-round development and education of the younger generation on the basis of primordially high moral ideals and principles of humanism of the Turkmen people, manifestations of extremist ideologies.

 In this connection, experts stressed that Turkmenistan's achievements in this direction are of special interest to the world community and authoritative structures in the fight against the threat of terrorism, and our country's experience can serve to improve international practice in preventing and countering such transnational threats.

Within the framework of the two-day international seminar, its participants will discuss concrete steps to strengthen cooperation and various national approaches in the fight against violent extremism and radicalism.
