NEGOTIATIONS AT THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TURKMENISTAN WITH THE DELEGATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL LABOR ORGANIZATION

On March 7, 2023, a meeting was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with representatives of the Decent Work Technical Support Team and the ILO Country Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, as well as the headquarters of the International Labor Organization in Geneva.

During the meeting, the parties considered topical issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the ILO.

Attention was paid to the participation of Turkmenistan in conventions and treaties through this international organization, as well as accession to other multilateral documents of the ILO. In this regard, an exchange of views took place on holding a round table in Ashgabat on March 9 this year on promoting fair recruitment during seasonal field work and on reviewing legislation regarding the prevention and prohibition of forced labor.

The parties discussed in detail the main points of the "road map" of events between the Government of Turkmenistan and the ILO for 2023 and issues of its full implementation.

In the context of the implementation of the National Action Plan of Turkmenistan on Human Rights for 2021-2025, the ILO representatives were familiarized with the purposeful work of the Turkmen side to organize events, including the analysis of the legislation of Turkmenistan for compliance with international labor standards.

During its visit, the ILO delegation will hold a number of meetings in the ministries and state organizations of Turkmenistan.
