CAMBRIDGE HOSTED CELEBRATIONS DEDICATED TO THE GREAT SILK ROAD AND THE INTERNATIONAL HOLIDAY OF NOVRUZ

On March 17, 2018, at the University of Cambridge, the Embassy of Turkmenistan, together with the Cambridge Central Asia Forum and the Embassies of Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in the UK organized and held a round table dedicated to the Great Silk Road, a concert, an exhibition and a reception dedicated to the international Novruz holiday.

In the beginning, a round table devoted to the Great Silk Road was held. Representatives of the Embassies of Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, Dr. Siddharth Saxena, Professors and Teachers of Cambridge University Ian White, Peter Nolan, Shailaya Fennel, D. Kudaibergenova, teacher of the Institute of Archeology of the "University College of Landon" G.Dzhoraev, as well as students of this higher educational institution, scientists, experts and representatives of the media.

The round table talked about the place of Turkmenistan in the history of the Great Silk Road, about the contribution to the culture of the peoples and about the international initiatives to restore the path put forward by Turkmenistan. Also, information was provided on Turkmenistan's successful implementation of major energy projects and transit-transport corridors and that our country is becoming the main logistics center of Central Asia. It was noted in the speeches that the passage of the Great Silk Road through the countries of Central Asia created favorable conditions for the development of science, trade and culture, and that scientists from the countries of Central Asia made their worthy contribution to the development of world science.

Then a festive concert was held at the University of Cambridge. At the concert, along with the performances of the masters of arts of Central Asian countries, Turkmen songs were performed by Turkmen performers. In addition, the song "Come, my Novruz" was received by the audience with great enthusiasm.

Also, an exhibition of arts and crafts of Central Asian countries was organized and a reception in honor of the international Novruz holiday, where the participants were offered dishes of national cuisine.

At the exhibition, the stand of the Embassy of Turkmenistan was dedicated to the announcement of 2018 as the Year "Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road" and the exhibition featured books by the President of Turkmenistan, souvenirs in the national style, as well as publications telling about the tourism potential of the country.
