Tashkent hosted the Turkmen-Uzbek business forum

On April 24, 2018 there was a Turkmen-Uzbek business forum in the hotel "International Hotel Tashkent", timed to the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The Turkmen delegation included representatives of the ministries and branch departments, as well as heads and specialists of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and many other private structures. Representatives of state structures - ministries of economy, foreign trade, water economy, development of information technologies and communications, agriculture, health protection,  the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as representatives of more than 80 large enterprises, holding companies and joint-stock companies took part in the forum from the Uzbek side.

Opening the meeting, the speakers noted with satisfaction that in recent years the traditionally friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan were experiencing a new upsurge and were characterized by the growing dynamics of bilateral interaction aimed at a concrete result.

During the meeting, representatives of the Turkmen side thoroughly acquainted the participants with the main aspects of Turkmenistan's economic strategy, which provided for diversification of the national economy through the introduction of new technologies and advanced management methods in all sectors, a gradual transition to market relations, and broad support for private entrepreneurship.

Confirming the mutual interest of the two states in the activation of mutually beneficial trade, economic and scientific and technical cooperation, the business meeting participants discussed a number of concrete steps to diversify the partnership. In the course of the exchange of views, it was also noted the need to build up trade relations, expand export-import operations, the range and volumes of goods supplied and services rendered to each other.

At the end of the plenary session, the representatives of state structures and private businessmen of the two countries held bilateral meetings, during which the issues of expanding mutually beneficial partnerships, the creation of new joint ventures and the implementation of major investment projects were discussed in details.
