TURKMENISTAN AND EUROPEAN UNION CONTINUE THE DIALOGUE ON ENERGY COOPERATION

During the period of May 28-30, 2019, the delegation headed by the Advisor of the President of Turkmenistan on oil and gas issues was on the working trip to Brussels. 

Technical consultations between Turkmenistan and the European Union were held in participation of the representatives of the General Directorate on Energy of the European Commission.   

The European side highlighted the proposal of Turkmenistan on attaining the Framework Agreement in the sphere of energy between Turkmenistan and the European Union.  Concurrently, the process of its further approval on the EU platform, future gas supplies to EU and the position of Turkmenistan on the issues of exporting the natural gas to European markets were discussed.     

In the framework of technical consultations, the Turkmen delegation held a joint meeting with the representatives of “British Petroleum,” “Shell” and “Total” companies.  During the session, the parties exchanged views and practical ideas on establishing bilateral cooperation in fuel and energy sector, particularly in regard to their potential presence in the implementation of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline.      

On May 29, 2019, the delegation of Turkmenistan held a meeting with M.Shevchovich, Deputy Chairman of the European Commission on Energy Union and D.Ristori, Director General of Energy Directorate of  the European Commission. During the meeting, the issues of intensifying cooperation between Turkmenistan and EU in the energy sphere were discussed.  With this aim, the parties agreed to continue constructive Dialogue between Turkmenistan and the EU, on high level, as well as in the working group format in Ashgabat and Brussels.
