On June 24, 2019, the Turkmen delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan V.Hadjiev had a meeting with the Secretary of State of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Danuset Neculaescu at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania.

During the talks, the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade and economic, transport, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Also during the talks the parties exchanged views on topical issues on the international agenda. In this context, issues of cooperation within international organizations, the intensification of relations in the framework of the EU-Central Asia format and the Romanian chairmanship of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2019 were discussed.

Speaking about the sides' commitment to expanding mutually beneficial friendly relations, the sides stressed the high level of the Turkmen-Romanian political dialogue. At the same time, recent exchanges of visits at the level of the heads of the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Romania were noted.

The parties expressed particular interest in enhancing and developing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. In this regard, the importance of the activities of the joint Turkmen-Romanian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was emphasized.

Also, during the meeting, the parties discussed issues relating to the project of the international transport route Caspian Sea - Black Sea.

In addition, among the areas for further cooperation between Turkmenistan and Romania, the parties noted the role of education.
