Turkmen-American business partnership

On July 08-11, 2017, a representative delegation of Turkmenistan visited the United States of America on a working visit. On July 10, the joint business event "Turkmenistan-USA" in Washington, DC was held. It was devoted to the prospects of development of long-term successful partnership in various spheres of economy between the two countries. Turkmen delegation was represented by industry, agriculture, commerce, economy, and trade sector ministries and departments of our country, production factories, as well as the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

More than 20 representatives of the «Turkmenistan-US» Business Council, US State Department, Department of Commerce, US state enterprises, officials of US companies working in such spheres as oil and gas and chemical industry, computer technologies, energy, agriculture and food industry, transport and logistics such as: Argus Limited, Boeing, CNH Industrial, Ellicott Dredge Enterprises, General Electric, John Deere, Lindsay Corporation, Microsoft, Oxbow Energy Solutions, Westport Trading Europe Limited, Caterpillar took part in the event.

During the forum more than 15 bilateral meetings between representatives of business structures of the two countries were held. The parties discussed issues of mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly  achievements and opportunities of US companies in the field of agriculture, Turkmenistan's opportunities for export and investment, the importance of innovative technologies for organizing the work of state structures and the further Course of development of Turkmen-American business partnership in general. The forum assessed the economic potential of Turkmenistan, characterized the processes occurring in various sectors, presented the most significant indicators and prospects for their development, analyzed the current state of trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the United States of America, and coordinated measures to further increase its volumes taking into account the interests of the two countries. Particular attention was paid to the innovative component of economic reforms, a favorable investment climate in the country and auspicious conditions for the activities of foreign investors.

On July 11, members of the Turkmen delegation held meetings with the representatives of US innovative technologies companies, specializing in implementing the modern technologies in state structures.

The Executive Director of the «Turkmenistan-US» Business Council Eric Stewart, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Central Asia Dan Rosenblum, as well as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia Dale Tasharski in their speech praised the policy of "open doors" pursued by the President of Turkmenistan that is conducive to the development of bilateral cooperation and development of trade-economic relations.

Participants of the meeting stressed the importance of enhancing Turkmen-American dialogue, closer contacts between potential partners, development of new cooperation opportunities in the traditional areas, promotion of joint projects, the intensification of productive relations in various sectors and increase in investment activities.

As shown by the meetings and negotiations held with American partners, the priority areas for cooperation remain agriculture, energy, the financial system, and innovative technology.  Reciprocal interests of Turkmen and American business communities were ascertained to deepen all-round mutually beneficial partnership. This partnership has a great potential in view of the growing aspirations of the U.S. business community to expand its presence on the Turkmen market and take an active part in implementation of mass-scale government programs initiated by President of Turkmenistan.
