A workshop on mutually beneficial cooperation through innovative technologies in rational use of water-energy resources among Central Asian states was held in the UNRCCA building

On December 17, 2019, a workshop was held in the building of the Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia on mutually beneficial cooperation through innovative technologies in rational use of water-energy resources among Central Asian states.

The main goal of the seminar was to provide in-depth information on international legislative norms and standards in the field of water and energy cooperation, as well as discuss the draft provisions of the task force group (TFG), work program, procedural and other issues of the group.

International experts highlighted strategies and policies in the field of water-energy cooperation and resource management of Central Asian states, as well as provided best practices of the UNRCCA member states. Within the framework of the seminar, the legal regulation of circulation and legislation in the field of water and energy cooperation was considered. In addition, the focus of the discussions was on best practices for implementing relevant international obligations.

The issues of the draft Work Plan for 2020, which included the organization of four meetings of the task force group on the legal and institutional aspects of water and energy cooperation of Central Asian states, were also discussed.

On December 18, 2019, a meeting of the task force group will be held in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, at which the Regulation on the TFG and the Group’s Work Plan will be approved.
