Telephone conversation of the President of Turkmenistan with the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan

On July 10, 2020, a telephone conversation was held between the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev.

In the beginning of the talk, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated Nursultan Nazarbayev with his 80th birthday anniversary and wished him strong health, endless life energy and success in his responsible work for the sake of the people of Kazakhstan.

Parties noted the high level of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The adherence of both countries and people to further strengthening of cooperation on a wide range was reiterated.

They exchanged views on the pressing issues of regional and international problems. In this context, the subject of coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) was raised, which encompasses vast geographic spaces and has a negative impact on the lives of many states and peoples.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined that Turkmenistan fully supports the efforts of the world community on the counteraction against the COVID-19 pandemic. In this regard, the Turkmen Leader noted the significance of engaging the mechanisms of scientific diplomacy including the collaboration between the scientists of the world for the determination of coronavirus origin, reasons and conditions of its emerging. In this regard, the parties touched upon the Aral problems, causing concern of both sides. The air masses forming in the Aral zone can spread to wide territories and pose threat for the health of people living in the region and far beyond it.

The parties reiterated the adherence to strengthening of collaboration on this and other matters on bilateral level, as well as in the framework of regional and international structures.
