THE DELEGATION OF TURKMENISTAN TO THE OSCE MADE A STATEMENT ON THE OCCASION OF DECLARING 2021 AS THE INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF PEACE AND TRUST

On March 15, 2021, the representatives of Turkmenistan made a statement on the occasion of declaring 2021 as the International Year of Peace and Trust at the regular meeting of the OSCE Security Committee.

Delegation of Turkmenistan mentioned that in the coming years, international community has to focus on the following important areas - strengthening international law, the processes of disarmament and prevention of spread of weapons of mass destruction, fight against international terrorism and transnational threats.

 Support and strengthening of preventive diplomacy as an important tool for eliminating disputes and conflicts at the early stage as well as ensuring energy, transport, water, food security, resolving the problems of refugees and migrants were the other themes of the statement.

 And the most urgent task for the coming year is, certainly, to unite international efforts to overcome the pandemic and eliminate its consequences. These and other major items of the global agenda can be accomplished under one fundamental condition - the presence of peace, goodwill, mutual trust, responsibility and foresight.
