THE VALUES OF THE NOVRUZ HOLIDAY ARE CONSONANT WITH THE PRINCIPLES OF THE INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF PEACE AND TRUST

The diplomatic representatives of Turkmenistan abroad have organized special events in honor of the Novruz holiday of international scope. In fact, in February 2010, the UN General Assembly has recognized the 21st of March as the International Day of Novruz. It is worthwhile to note that this holiday was also entered in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Humankind.

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Azerbaijan took part in the event dedicated to the Novruz holiday, which was held in the premises of the International Fund of Turkic Culture and Heritage and organized a stand in the framework of the event in honor of the current year with the slogan of “Turkmenistan – Homeland of Peace and Trust”.

The Consulate General of Turkmenistan in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Herat city organized a festive event in honor of the Novruz holiday, which was also dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan and the announcement of the year 2021 in the country as “Turkmenistan – Homeland of Peace and Trust”.

The Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN Office at Geneva jointly with the Missions of Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, India, China, Pakistan, Peru, Russia, Turkey and the Central Asian states organized a virtual celebration of the Novruz holiday. The participants demonstrated short videos on the national traditions and customs of celebrating Novruz in their respective countries.

Upon the initiative of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania jointly with the Embassy of Iran in Bucharest, and in assistance of the “Dimitrie Gusti” National Village Museum, a ceremony of lunching festive exhibition dedicated to the International Day of Novruz was organized. The Minister of Culture of Romania Bogdan Gheorghiu attended the exhibition. The main part of the event was the national exposition held in the Museum, dedicated to the cultural heritage of the countries, which was also available in the virtual format. The showcase of Turkmenistan showed the elements of cultural heritage of Turkmenistan and the economic achievements of the country.

In the city of Kazan of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, festive events took place in honor of the Novruz holiday. The National-cultural autonomy of Turkmen in Tatarstan in assistance of the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation (Kazan city), organized an exhibition where the cultural values of Turkmen people, as well as the books of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, national jewelry, hand-made carpets and dishes were displayed.

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Austria organized a roundtable dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan and the announcement of the year 2021 in the country as “Turkmenistan – Homeland of Peace and Trust”. The event was also dated to the holiday of Novruz, which symbolizes the friendship among nations. The event was attended by the representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations in Austria, mass media.

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Belarus organized a festive concert in honor of the Novruz holiday. The Turkmen students studying in Belarus took active part in the event.
