SEVENTH MEETING OF THE SUBCOMMITTEE ON COLLABORATION IN THE AREA OF SECURITY OF THE TURKMEN-CHINESE COMMITTEE ON COOPERATION WAS HELD

On June 24, 2021, the Seventh meeting of the Subcommittee on Collaboration in the area of Security of the Turkmen-Chinese Committee on Cooperation was held via videoconferencing.

The delegations of Turkmenistan and the PRC chaired by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Le Yucheng discussed the current state of cooperation in the area of security and designated the favorable directions of collaboration.

The parties reviewed the outcomes of the activities taken place since the last session of the Subcommittee, as well as heard the reports of the members of the delegations, the representatives of the law enforcement agencies of two countries.    

The issues of regional security, as well as the situation in Afghanistan were discussed. The interest of the sides in the expansion of cooperation on combatting the threats and challenges in the region was expressed. In this respect, it was noted that Turkmenistan pays special attention to the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy on the regional level.

The commitment of the Turkmen side to the development of interaction with China in the area of informational and biological security was voiced.  In view of the geopolitical processes taking place in the region in general, Turkmenistan intends to widen the partnership with the Chinese side and international partners on the maintenance of security in the framework of its neutrality status. 

Upon the outcomes of the session, the parties signed the Protocol of the Seventh meeting of the Subcommittee on Collaboration in the area of Security of the Turkmen-Chinese Committee on Cooperation.
