DELEGATION OF TURKMENISTAN TOOK PART IN THE MEETING OF THE MINISTERIAL COUNCIL OF OSCE PARTICIPATING STATES

On December 2-3, 2021, in Stockholm, Sweden, the 28th meeting of the Ministerial Council (COM) of the OSCE participating States was held under the chairmanship of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden A. Linde.

Heads of foreign ministries, as well as Permanent Representatives of the OSCE region, including the delegation of Turkmenistan, as well as delegations from 10 partner countries took part in the meeting.

The meeting discussed issues of security in the OSCE participating states, prevention of military conflicts, combating transnational threats, cooperation in the field of environment, gender equality and others.

In his statement, the head of the delegation of Turkmenistan outlined Turkmenistan's position and vision on issues related to all three dimensions of the Organization. At the same time, it was noted that an important element in maintaining the necessary level of security in the OSCE area is to increase the level of mutual trust at the highest level and the development of dialogue and interaction between the peoples of different cultures and civilizations. In this regard, Turkmenistan expressed its support for the efforts of the Swedish Chairmanship aimed at strengthening dialogue and trust in the OSCE.

Turkmenistan stressed the need for the international community to consolidate efforts around the Afghan peace process and to continue the dialogue to find mutually acceptable ways to stabilize the situation in the country. Turkmenistan's readiness to continue providing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan was also emphasized.

Following the meeting of the Ministerial Council, relevant decisions were made by consensus, which define the strategy of the OSCE in matters of security and stability, the main approaches of the organization to improving the effectiveness of the OSCE, as well as other no less important aspects of the organization's activities.
