PRIORITY AREAS OF COOPERATION BETWEEN TURKMENISTAN AND FAO WERE DISCUSSED

On December 10, 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov met in Ashgabat with Viorel Gutsu, Subregional Coordinator for Central Asia of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the International Conference "Peace and Trust Policy – Basis of International Security, Stability and Development".

In the course of the meeting, the sides discussed in detail the priority areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and FAO. In particular, there was an exchange of views on joint activities, including projects and programs to promote agricultural development and food security in the global context.

In addition, the project agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the FAO on the opening of the FAO office in the country was discussed.

The active role of the Turkmen government in international processes aimed at environmental protection and rational use of natural resources was emphasized.

The parties also exchanged views on the FAO projects discussed during the talks and approved by Turkmenistan. Particular attention was paid to the use of international best practices in assessing the food well-being of the population.
