DURING A VISIT TO ISLAMABAD, THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TURKMENISTAN HELD A MEETING WITH THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF PAKISTAN

Today, on December 18, on the instructions of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Turkmen delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov left on a visit to the capital of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

During the visit to Islamabad, the head of the Turkmen delegation, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the results of the 15th Summit of Heads of State of the Economic Cooperation Organization, which was held on November 28, 2021 in the Turkmen capital. In this context, it was noted that the visit of President Arif Alvi to Ashgabat gave impetus to further increase the mutually beneficial partnership between Turkmenistan and Pakistan in bilateral and multilateral formats.

The parties also emphasized the progressive development of longstanding relations in political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

It was particularly noted the cooperation in the trade and economic direction, which is strategically based on partnership in the energy sector. In this regard, the sides noted joint actions in the intensification of cooperation on the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline project, power transmission lines and fiber-optic communications on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route.
