On May 7, 2026, an event titled “Economic Development of Turkmenistan in the Context of Regional and Global Economic Outlook” was held at the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C. The event was jointly organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the United States and the IMF.

The event brought together more than 80 representatives of government agencies, international financial institutions, business associations, and companies from Turkmenistan and the United States, including representatives of the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Commerce, IMF, World Bank, CIPE, USTBC, and TABCA.

The session was opened and moderated by Mr. Patryk Łoszewski, Executive Director of the IMF. The discussions focused on Turkmenistan’s economic development strategy, prospects for expanding Turkmen-American trade and investment cooperation, and strengthening engagement with international financial institutions. Speakers noted the positive dynamics of bilateral relations and the growing potential for practical cooperation between the business communities of the two countries.

IMF and World Bank representatives also presented regional and global economic trends, highlighting Central Asia’s steady growth and Turkmenistan’s significant economic potential.

As part of the event, the Embassy of Turkmenistan organized a cultural exhibition featuring Turkmen carpets, national clothing, jewelry, books, artworks, and other materials reflecting the history, culture, traditions, and modern development of Turkmenistan. Guests were also introduced to Turkmen national cuisine.

The event provided an important platform to present Turkmenistan’s economic potential, strengthen dialogue with international partners and U.S. business circles, and showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage.
