A meeting was held in Switzerland with the President of the International Cycling Union (UCI)

On May 29, 2018 in Aigle (Switzerland), the Ambassador of Turkmenistan in the Swiss Confederation had a meeting with the President of the International Cycling Union (UCI), David Lappartient, during which the issues of expanding our country's cooperation with this major international sports organization were discussed.

In particular, the practical implementation of the United Nations General Assembly resolution "World Bicycle Day" dated April 12, 2018 was touched upon, and in this context, particular attention was paid to the possibility of arranging in Turkmenistan in the coming years international sports competitions in cycling, as well as multilateral forums, dedicated to the development of cycling.

The President of the International Cycling Union, Mr. D. Lappartient, congratulated the President and the Government of Turkmenistan on the adoption of the above-mentioned UN General Assembly Resolution and expressed his firm belief that this important document of the Community of Nations will become a solid basis for promoting high ideals of sport, healthy lifestyles and ecological education.

The President of the International Cycling Union said that he plans to take part in the events dedicated to the World Bicycle Day, which will be held in New York (USA).

He stressed that this day will be widely celebrated by the International Cycling Union in order to invite all countries of the world to join this important initiative of Turkmenistan.

Mr. David Lappartient also expressed his readiness to assist in the implementation of the proposals of Turkmenistan on holding large-scale sports events in the country.
