3RD MEETING OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CASPIAN STATES TO DISCUSS THE DRAFT PROTOCOL ON THE CASPIAN SEA

On October 23-25, 2018, the 3rd meeting of authorized representatives of the Caspian states is held in the capital of Turkmenistan to discuss the draft Protocol on cooperation in the fight against illegal extraction of biological resources (poaching) in the Caspian Sea. Delegations from the Russian Federation, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan take part in the meeting.

At the previous meeting held in February 2017, the view was expressed that it was necessary to take a set of joint measures aimed at preserving and increasing the natural resources of the Caspian Sea. Among the urgent tasks was the implementation of systematic monitoring of the state of biological resources and the marine environment of the reservoir.

During the three-day work, an interested exchange of views on individual articles of the agreement will take place. During the discussion, the representatives of the parties will agree on certain provisions of this draft Agreement, taking into account the proposals and comments made at the meeting, and agreed to continue work on the discussion of the draft.
