The 43rd session of the special working group for development of the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea began its work in Ashgabat

On January 27, 2016 the next 43rd session of the Ad Hoc Working Group for the development of the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea at the level of deputy foreign ministers of the littoral states started its work in Ashgabat. The meeting in Ashgabat was attended by the delegations from the Russian Federation, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The purpose of the meeting is to continue the discussions of the provisions of the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea related to water and biological resources of the sea.

During the first day of the meeting of heads of delegations outlined the positions of their states on the legal status and the various aspects of cooperation in the Caspian Sea. They also exchanged views on a wide range of issues of interest, continued the search for mutually acceptable solutions on the provisions of the draft convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, which is being developed taking into account the proposals of all littoral states.

Tomorrow the 43rd session of the Ad Hoc Working Group for the development of the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea will continue its work.
