A TELEPHONE CONVERSATION TOOK PLACE BETWEEN THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN

On December 13, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi had a telephone conversation.

The President of the friendly country congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on the International Neutrality Day and the 26th anniversary of legal status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan and extended his best wishes to the Head of State and all the Turkmen people.

Expressing gratitude for the congratulations and good wishes, the national leader noted with satisfaction that there is a solid potential for expanding an effective bilateral partnership. The activation at present of interstate political-diplomatic, economic and cultural ties on the basis of the principles of equality, mutual respect and good neighborliness was noted.

Continuing the discussion, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi discussed the directions of bilateral cooperation, taking into account the existing prospects and current realities. In this regard, the sides noted the existence of great opportunities for expanding cooperation in the fuel and energy, transport and communications sectors, light industry, agriculture and processing industries.

Noting the convergence of positions on topical issues of our time, especially the consolidation of efforts to ensure peace and sustainable development, the interlocutors stressed that cooperation in this direction meets universal goals and national interests. The two countries reaffirmed their commitment to constructive interaction with reputable international organizations, primarily the United Nations.

Speaking about the importance of interaction in the humanitarian sphere as an integral part of bilateral relations, the interlocutors also noted the presence of great potential in science and education, culture and art, in the sphere of sport.

At the end of the telephone conversation, the sides expressed confidence in the further successful development of the Turkmen-Iranian cooperation and exchanged good wishes to each other and the peoples of the two neighboring countries.
