ROUND TABLE ON BILATERAL COOPERATION ALONG THE ROUTES OF THE GREAT SILK ROAD WAS HELD IN BEIJING

On March 19, 2018, the Turkmen-Chinese round table devoted to the issues of bilateral cooperation along the routes of the great silk road was held in the conference hall of Beijing transport university.

The round table was timed to the announcement of 2018 "Turkmenistan - the heart of the Great Silk road". The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in China, the Beijing Transport University and the Chinese company for the construction of roads and bridges.

The round table was attended by the members of the diplomatic missions accredited in Beijing, experts from transport and logistics companies in Beijing, faculty and students of Beijing Jiaotong University and representatives of the local media.

A wide range of issues related to the Turkmen-Chinese cooperation in the revival of the Great Silk road was considered during the round table. The participants of the event spoke specifically not only about the revival of this ancient trade route, but also about specific ways of implementing the international initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan to revive the Great Silk road in modern conditions and the Chinese concept of the "Economic belt of the Silk Road".

Welcoming the participants of the round table, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan Ch.Rustamova spoke in detail about the specifics of the current stage of the development of the logistics infrastructure of Turkmenistan and its role in achieving sustainable development of the economy of all countries of the region.

The head of the Center for international education and exchange Liu Yanqing noted the great potential of Turkmen-Chinese cooperation in the development of high technologies and the implementation of joint scientific and innovative projects in the field of education. In the speeches of Liu Jingbo, Deputy Director General of the Chinese Railways Corporation and Zhu Xiaoying, Head of the Center for State Technical Education and Service in Railway Transport, proposals were made to expand and deepen, based on the principles of mutual benefit and win-win, energy cooperation, to ensure long-term safe and stable operation common projects.

The lively interest of the round table participants was evoked by the video presentation of large-scale transit-transport potentials of Turkmenistan realized within the framework of the revival of the Great Silk Road in modern conditions.

At the end of the round table, a useful exchange of views took place on issues related to the development of cooperation in various formats. The forum participants expressed their readiness to deepen contacts and build up further cooperation.
